Sunbelt Dominates Near-Term Growth Prospects, 4Q 2021 Heat Map Shows

U.S. economic growth improved slightly in the fourth quarter of 2021, with standout performance in major metros in the Southeast, Southwest and West, while markets in the Northeast and Midwest continued to lag. That is according to the latest Current Momentum Heat Map, an interactive analysis developed by SitusAMC Insights, the data, analytics and research division of SitusAMC.

The Heat Map gauges metro economic conditions and the near-term growth forecast for the top 50 U.S. metros, using a variety of analytics based on employment, unemployment and income. The Heat Map reports on current conditions and outlooks for market economies and property segments, with an interactive visualization to help discern market-specific conditions, regional and market size variations, and the direction of momentum.

“The Sun Belt continues to dominate,” said Peter Muoio, Ph.D., Senior Director of SitusAMC Insights. “All Southwest markets and all but five Southeast markets registered a 1, the highest rating for Current Momentum.” Explore the 4Q 2022 SitusAMC Insights Heat Map below or click here to open the report in a new window.
